SCHOLARSHIPS

 

 

 

  • The Missouri Society of Professional Surveyors has posted the application for their ROBERT V. PIRRIE MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP.  To be eligible, one must attend an accredited college, junior college or
    university and be enrolled in classes and/or participation in activities related to the land
    surveying field. These might include mathematics, topography, and drafting, etc.  It is a one-time, non-renewable scholarship in the amount of $1,500.  See Mrs. Amanda for the application.  

     

  • The United State JCI Senate Foundation awards $1,000 scholarships to graduating high school seniors in teh US who plan to continue their education.  The Missouri JCI Senate will pick 2 nominees to represent MO for the US JCI Senate scholarships.  The MO JCI Senate will present the 2 MO winners each a $250 scholarship then forward their applications on to the US JCI Foundation for consideration. The deadline for MO entries is postmarked January 2, 2009.  The application form can be downloaded at http://www.mojcisenate.org/forms.html.

 

  • Most local scholarship information and applications will not be available until the spring.

  • John T. Belcher Memorial Scholarship - established by the MO School Boards' Association Foundation, FutureBuilders.  Each district can select one senior to apply for this award.  MSBA's 17 Regional Leadership Committees choose the winner in their respective regions.  MSBA's Statewide Scholarship Committee chooses one statewide winner from the 17 regional winners.  The statewide winner receives a $1,500 scholarship and 16 regional winners each receive a $750 scholarship.  The nominees from each district should be selected be the local board of education based on academic achievement, leadership abilities and the quality of an essay related to public education; need may also be considered. Please complete the application and return to Mrs. Amanda's office by December 12. The school board will then choose one application to enter at the December 15 board meeting. 

 

  • Juniors Only - Discover Card offers up to 10 scholarships of $30,000 each to a JUNIOR who has at least a 2.75 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 and demonstrates accomplishments in community service and leadership and has faced a significant roadblock or challenge.  Applications for the 2009 program may be submitted at www.applyists.net between December 1, 2008 - January 31, 2009.  

     

 

  • The American Legion has posted 2009 Scholarship Programs.  Visit their site to download applications.

 

  • The Robert J. Trulaske, Sr. College of Business of University of Missouri, Columbia has posted scholarship applications for those interested in a career in business. The deadline is February 1, 2009.

 

  • The John Dennis Scholarship is for criminal justice majors only, which will be awarded by the Missouri Sheriff's Association.  The scholarship in the amount of $1,000 will be presented to 16 college-bound Missouri high school seniors who intend to pursue a criminal justice career and will be attending a Missouri college or university.  Applicants must be in good standing with their school, have a good reference from their school counselor, demonstrate financial need, have a 2.0 GPA or greater, and be active in extra-curricular activities.  Also required, a paragraph attached to the application detailing goals ten years after high school graduation.  Applications must be submitted by January 31, 2009.

              Robert C. Byrd Honors Scholarship - application deadline April 15, 2009

              Urban Flight and Rural Needs Scholarship - application deadline April 15, 2009

 

  • U.S. Bank Internet Scholarship Program - will award up to thirty $1,000 scholarships to high school seniors planning to attend two- or four-year colleges full-time next fall.  Scholarship award recipients are selected through a random drawing process.  You can apply online by visiting the U.S. Bank web site.  Scholarship online applications will be accepted from October, 2008 through February, 2009.

 

  • KFC Colonel's Scholars Program - access application at www.kfcscholars.org  The online application will be available from December 1, 2008 through February 10, 2009. 

 

  • LEAP Scholarship - seniors who are planning to pursue an accounting degree at a Missouri college - application DEADLINE:  January 31, 2009  Details, rules, and application process are available at www.leap-forward.com.
