DORA R-III SCHOOL MEDICATION POLICY

The school policy for prescription medications and over-the-counter medications is that the medication needs to be brought to school in the original bottle. For instance, prescription medication needs to be in the bottle that the pharmacist gives to you, and over-the-counter medication needs to be in the bottle that it was purchased in.

Preschool through 6th grade Medications given to students in grades preschool through 6th grade will either need to be picked up at school by an adult or a student that is in 7th - 12th grades. We realize that this can cause great difficulty for some parents/guardians. For this reason, if you will ask, the pharmacist will give you an extra bottle to be sent to school and left here until the medication is completed.  The bottle will need to be filled with the proper amount of medication to complete the dosage regiment.

NO STUDENT IS ALLOWED TO DOSE THEIR OWN MEDICATIONS. THE ONLY EXCEPTION TO THIS IS FOR STUDENTS THAT HAVE AN INHALER IN GRADES 7TH-12TH, BUT EVEN THE STUDENTS IN GRADES 7TH - 12TH WITH INHALERS NEED TO HAVE A SIGNED MEDICATION FORM ON FILE IN THE NURSE'S OFFICE FROM THEIR PHYSICIAN.
